Need Modern Discussion Board
Can you guys recommend me a discussion board software for a tiny rather inactive community with the following features.
- Single Topic Thread kinda like LET
- Anonymus posting with reCaptcha support
- Active & Secure
I don't want to be bothered too much with this but the bloated forum we used in the past went belly up after the administrator lost interest and we just need something quick and dirty to catch up. I thought about using Vanilla but read lots of complains about it. This should run on a small VPS with 50 users in total and 10k views per month at best.

These all look good but I'm looking for truly anonymous posting like in Wordpress. The user enters a name, an email and solves a captcha to post.
That's something all of those should be able to do, given user access controls and configuration.
If you are willing to pay, have a look at Easydiscuss.
So you want something like 4chan?
XenForo, but it is paid.
I've looked at all of them. I guess the feature I need is commonly known as guest posting. While most of them support that they don't allow guests to be restricted by a captcha.
Easydiscuss does. I can claim this cuz I have used it previously. It even offers two choices: Google one or internal one.
But it does not stop spam.
SMF allows that. Pretty sure of it. Not sure about the others though : |
