Ram usage?

smibasmiba Member
edited June 2013 in Help

I've been testing Proxmox on a 4GB server. I made 2 VMs with these settings:

1GB min, 2GB max
40GB HDD
2 Cores
Windows 2012 Server

512MB min 1.5GB Max
30GB HDD
1 Core
Windows 2012 Server

While them both installing, my ram usage went up to 4GB Ram and 1450MB Swap. How did this happen? The 2 servers didn't even use all of their ram.

Does the memory multiply or something?

Please help,
Thanks

  • How are you measuring your memory usage? Allocated memory is not the same as assigned memory.

With the command "htop". The memory bar was all green..

But it had something to do with the memory sharing i used.. By setting a fixed amount (for example) of 2GB it will always use 2GB instead of 3.5GB.

I still would like to know why it used so much memory

    smiba how deep's that hole.

If you need to ask how deep the hole is then you probably missed this thread too.

DomainBop I read that one but that's an honest mistake I guess due to IPs being assigned to another server but this...

No, it was because OVH's virtual network is weird
