Cost effective VPS?

Hello,

currently I'm using VPSDime (7$/m 4vCPU 6GB RAM) and Contabo (7€/m 2vCPU 6GB RAM), during the last 1 month, there is no downtime and I was quite satisfied.

Do you know why they can provide these plan so cheap? Maybe cuz they own their own hardware?

And do you know any other service provides cheap VPS like that? No matter OpenVZ or KVM.

  • Low profit margins, overselling, poorly managed/maintained network/hardware etc, desktop grade hardware (or old hardware), no backups, little support, there are all sorts of factors to cheaper pricing.

I’m not necessarily saying that these are strictly accurate to these companies, but It’s likely that they’re doing some of these things.

If it works well for you then there shouldn’t be much to worry about!

Just use these servers for testing evironment 😝 Even if the server down or corrupt, I wouldn't mind so much.

https://qovic.com/virtual-servers please see if our $7 plan would suit your needs ( its not 6GB ) but its totally dedicated resources.

spam link here - see if our $7 plan would suit your needs ( its not 6GB ) but its totally dedicated resources.

2GB for $7 is hardly "cost effective".

What costs the most in any business is wage, human wage.

Automation is the key to becoming a bottom barrel host.

Or living in a 3rd world country where the minimum wage is 1 usd an hour and full time stay in maids are paid 200 usd a month

  • You should do a short stress test or benchmark (if the ToS allows). That way you know something is wrong somewhere. I used some providers selling really cheap packages but there are always hidden agendas for example 100GB SSD with 10k Inodes or 50TB traffic with 10MB/s bandwidth. Like in my previous replies to someone, some even cap their SSD i/o speed to 100MB/s. I rather get 10GB SSD with 1GBps port or 500 MB/s i/o... In reality I one don't necessary need more than 250GB of disk unless they host porn or some heavy video streaming websites...

Well, my opinion is mine, it doesn't necessarily mean all over-selling providers are low quality...
