RAID controller upgrade for my Dell PowerEdge T110 IIs...

darkconzdarkconz Member

Hi,

I have two Dell PowerEdge T110 II and I like to upgrade both of their RAID controllers.

Machine 1: Onboard RAID 5. 4x1TB SATA drives.

Machine 2: PERC H200 RAID 10. 4x600GB SAS drives.

Can somebody suggest a RAID controller to upgrade? PERC H700 is not compatible with the server. I would like a controller that has write-cache so I can enhance the write speed. The 4x600GB SAS in RAID 10 is giving me 28MB/s write speed because the controller does not have write-cache enabled. I guess having write-cache enabled cards would require a backup battery unit? Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for helping me out.
