50k+ visitors in what amount of time?
He says "live visitors" so I think he means concurrent.
I was also expecting that kind of numbers for my first blog.
I'd say a 1 GIG Ram, 2 vCPU, 50 GB storage (( More if you need it )), on a SSD host running vestaCP + Nginx + PHP7-FPM on debian 9 would do you. Make sure to pick the minimum amount of items.
This is unlikely to support a full 50k live viewers in a second, or minute. However I think you mean more like a month.

Run it on a 1 dollar/year VPS and sue the host for massive damage in income later.
https://www.hetzner.com/epyc-server you need one of these.
Are the users going to be commenting at all or is it purely reading your posts?
Francisco
We have a lot of instant servers under $70/mo. in Chicago, Miami, Toronto and Frankfurt.
https://gthost.com/instant-servers/
buy multiple mini server, cache the site, then load balance at dns level (headache free).
with $70 you will easily find 14x1GB server ($5 each).
or.... buy CDN service.
So how many did you actually get in your first blog?
5/day, all from myself
There may be difference in live visitor based on how you are measuring it. Concurrent (webserver stats) or something like Google analytics.
Specs for both should vary a lot.
