I've only used zRam under Android, but I wonder how it would fare in a VPS environment? It's designed for low memory environments, and should work in KVM/Xen-HVM. It used to be called compcache in case anyone has past experience with it.

Some interesting benchmarks here: http://code.google.com/p/compcache/wiki/zramperf

Anyone ever used it in a VPS environment?

  • OMFG this seems interesting :D

I guess you can use it only in Xen-KVM environments?

(Sorry, no time to try it now u_u)

  • Yeah, I doubt it would work out on OVZ.

It seems perfect for the VPS environment. I only used it on Android phones and it worked great.

  • I'm going to test this out, looks very promising.
