Nice & Bookmarked. Thanks @alex for the find.
Wow, thanks. Bookmarked.
Am I missing the point of this - you have to include the IP anyway, why not just use the IP? So many (free) places can provide a better/more useful service.
CNAME?
One use case: www vhosts.
Totally cool. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome. Thanks tor sharing.
Cool!
Interesting. Wonder if there would be any way to incorporate IPv6.
I just use Hosts files, but in linux and windows environments
The point is not to have to do that.
You can't always edit the hosts file.
I've been looking for something like this where I don't need to edit the hosts file constantly. Thanks!
Sweet, thanks!
You can also of course do this yourself on your own dns server (or any) with the domain of your choice.
For linux at least you can easily set this up with dnsmasq; install dnsmasq then (ubuntu for example) edit /etc/dnsmasq.d/my-dev-tld (new file) and add
address=/my-dev-tld/127.0.0.1
the restart dnsmasq.
I've got mine working for .loc - avoid using .local & .localdomain to prevent conflicts.
already ddos, guys stop it god damm u LOL
try w/o the dub dub dub:
jbrown@jbrown-ubuntu:~$ host www.xip.io
www.xip.io has address 160.166.0.0
Host www.xip.io not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
Host www.xip.io not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
jbrown@jbrown-ubuntu:~$ host xip.io
xip.io has address 173.45.254.247
Host xip.io not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
Host xip.io not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
My thoughts exactly.
So, isn't rocket science at all?
Nope
