Yessir. I rarely browse around here, but figured I should probably be registered at some point for when I do.
Oh, I agree. My assumption is that it's just a single run of zeros (which is good enough IMO as if you care that much you should wipe before you leave). The difference is that I think some confirmation would be a little nicer if someone had already gotten the answer.
After I spent 9 years as a moderator at WHT enforcing their strict rules, LET feels quite relaxed. Welcome! LET may feel low-end but there are a lot of geniuses here. On WHT, the Intel issue received 32 replies while it got 347+ replies here as of now. And page 3 and 4 of that thread have some very technical details that I'm completely incapable of understanding. Turns out LET is where you can learn about intricate details of microchip design, and still put a huge bold text saying:
#HugeMicrochipDicks
In short, don't neglect your duties on WHT but keep a close eye on LET.
As a side note, the reinstall function inside the panel will automatically wipe signatures of existing partitions. I used to try to reinstall a KS while hoping to recover one partition (so that I can save time copying from another server) and noticed that the first couple sectors were wiped zero after the reinstallation.
So the bottom line is, they at least wipes partitions a bit so it's harder to recover the data. I never actually tried to read the data from a KS server when I bought it new, so I can't provide an accurate answer.
Also, dacentec, when providing me a new dedi server, keeps all the data on the disks. Opened some random partitions and saw sh1t tons of porn videos...

Not like there's a simple tool such as TestDisk which restores partitions by looking for the actual filesystems on disk.
