What providers do you go with for your production servers?

Most of the providers here on LET seem to be pretty good with reliability and uptime on their servers but just wanted to know what everyone uses for their production servers.

OVH. Seriously, not trolling. I've got like a year, 4 months uptime (BHS) on a client's server. Client is happy, server just hums along.

I generally have 2 levels of production.

Client side: anything that affects clients (web hosting, email, dns, etc.etc...)

Internal: things that affects me. (Project management software, nextcloud, librenms, etc.etc...)

Client side providers I deem production ready and trust.

Internal side: Good reviews online and I decide to give them a go. Providers here could potentially be used for client side if deemed reliable enough.

    With that in mind:

Client side: Prometeus, Vultr, RamNode, OVH and DediServe

    Internal: HostUS, ImpactVPS, FlowVPS

OVH too. They take care of the network and hardware and I do the rest. Not like they have massive guarantees about their availability but TBF when they host several hundred thousand people, they're not bullshitters, they 'do' hosting the way unmanaged hosting should be done, they're unparalleled in the unmanaged space.

I also have 2 levels of "production".
What is for business production and what is for me production.
For business I trust nobody, this means redundancy on highly resilient network must be on with 3 points for most important stuff and 2 for auxiliary services.
For me, well, I trust uncle and the datacenters at hand where i can go and colo stuff as well as my home network and UMB hosting.

    Prometeus: multiple years without problems

KMS-Hosting: about 18 months now, also without problems

  • I really dig NetCup. Their shit just works and there's no fuss or muss.

That said, I'm really enjoying @vmhaus for a new company, and as always, @AnthonySmith is the stalwart who never lets shit go down.

@WSS really? Most clients forget about us because they don't get the downtime notifications ;)

    For production I use: ArubaCloud, Veesp ( @veesp ), HostSolutions ( @cociu ), Scaleway.

    Prometeus, Hetzner

Liteserver is more in the LET range and their uptime+reliability is excellent, a more variegated offer would be welcome anyway

I've completely dropped OVH for anything remotely related to "production"

I'd like to say more on Netcup but it's still too soon

    default said: ArubaCloud

    for production? wow.

Maounique said: highly resilient network must be on with 3 points

This reminds me of an Uncle Sal's post :)

    Take at least 3 backups, at three different moments, in 3 different locations;

As for LET options, I would opt for RamNode (vps/shared), Prometeus (vps/shared), HostHatch, LiteServer, InceptionHosting, SecureDragon, UltraVPS.eu, GinerNet, 1PWH, KMS-Hosting, OnVirt, VaporNode, CloudLite, ITLDC, Beget (shared) and a few others. Of course I'm not using all of them, but these are the ones I trust so far.

I mean if very low two-digit uptime is good enough for his production standards...

Do you still consider it a two-digit if there is a leading zero?

It's a bit of a turn off whenever you criticize / insult other providers, no matter how true it is :(

Feel free to criticize other providers... this is LET and free speech is allowed. However, never expect me to appreciate you or your offensive attitude towards other providers, or other clients projects, whether is HostSolutions, AboveClouds (yes, I remember), or anything else.

And because free speech is allowed, with all respect to whatever you may think about me, I hereby promise to never be your client/customer, no matter how cheap or free your offers will be (this is not advertising), simply because you disgust me with your insults towards others.

As a side note, feel free to consider this a joke like yours...

  • Don't get me wrong, I respect @Clouvider and enjoy his services. He's knowledgeable and goes the extra mile for his clients.

But what is perceived by many as "bashing" should be tuned down in order to remain professional.

Just my view, only constructive criticism from me :)

Production but low bandwidth usage: Clouvider. It just works, and Dom isn't scared about my batshit networking setup.

Bandwidth intensive stuff: OVH and Hetzner. You simply can't beat the pricing.
