Zabbix troubles
Any zabbix experts got a moment to offer some guidance ?
Basically I have built my zabbix server + agent and that's all working nicely .... I then install the agent onto a remote server, edit the conf to show the server IP and set the hostname to match the hostname I then manually add in the configuration via the web interface.
All adds OK, but the remote node never seems to get picked on the central server .... the monitoring status never changes and the device is never discovered.
The agent and server logs are showing nothing, so I am at a loss, did I miss a step somewhere ?

You have run zabbix_agentd on the server you want to monitor, right? Got the correct ports open, too?
yup, agentd is running and no firewall in the way so ports are all good
