dafuq you hosting.. porn?
As some of you might know. I am hosting CBT (Computer Based Test). Apparently 2GB of Ram can't handle even 300 users simultaneously. MySQL Services keep restarting itself. I am looking for to accommodate 1000 users simultaneously.
Already contacted him. He only have dual core 8GB RAM 100GB HDD. I can double it but I will end up doubling the price. I don't really need extra 8gb and 100gb HDD. I don't even really need 100gb space. 20 is enough.
Maybe KS-3C is an option?
Do you need dedicated cores?
This sounds like you'd have quite heavy use and I'd lean towards a dedicated server honestly. Do you have a budget for this?
Yes, I think. Most of the time the vps will just idle. It will be used probably once a week.
Yes. It is a an option.
I don't think used once a week is heavy use. But yes. When the server get hit by 1000 users simultaneously. It is going to be a heavy used.
I used the virmach openvz deal 2GB RAM. They shut down my vps. lol. Probably because extensive used of CPU.
About the Budget. I don't have any definite number. Hit me with your best shot. I will forward it to my client.
It may only be once a week but if your hutting 4 cores at 100% for 8 hours, you need dedicated cores, dedicated cores on a VPS is quite expensive because VPS nodes are usually significantly more expensive and higher grade hardware.
You can get a cheap dedicated server with 4 - 8 cores you can abuse until your heart is content at a fair price, probably as little as $25 if you get a good deal.
grab the KS3C, you wont regret it
if you really need 8 cores CPUs, then you can find a cheap dedicated server $25-35.
Yeah probably I will get the KS3C. I will wait for black Friday. And one more thing. Don't pm me with offers. If you have offers , be a Man and post it here.
There is still netcup offering dedicated cores on their vps at a very affordable price. Maybe check them out?
@yokowasis If I were you then I would wait till black friday, or 2 options under $20 bucks are oneprovider.com c2750 8g RAM. It has 8 cores but are not hyperthreaded, or KS3C.
might check https://wiki.lunanode.com/index.php/Flexible_plans (if still available? - @perrenate) - hourly billing at roughly "$0.0222 per CPU-core-hour" plus about $0.05 per hour for an 8 GB ram kvm instance, plus $0.03 per GB bandwidth. Can take snapshots and then spin down the instance when not in use (just pay for snapshot storage and reserved ip address during time offline).
Also can find hourly dedicated server at nocix - personally I would prefer lunanode for features, support, and reliability for the use you describe.
scaleway?
I see their website, it actally pretty good deals. Do their vps comes with a dedicated core ?
I'd question how much it'd cost you for just a secondary, beefier host to handle MySQL and have it on the same subnet. It'd likely be more than $20/mo, by at least double- though.
Of course, WSI has a few deals for $25 right now.
If you actually saw their website, you already possess this information.
I just want to make sure. You can't be too careful enough.
They're not OneProvider. They know the difference between a VPS and bare metal.
You can find a cheap dedi for what the VPS would cost.
Hello,
First i also think you should go for a dedi.
Then no offense but your request is quite sketchy, in case our first 4C dedi is not over your budget here are the details:
E3-1220v5
-Intel Xeon E3 1220v5 4C/4T 3GHz
-16 GB
-1TB
-100 Mbits unmetered
35$/month
