Remote posting not working for wordpress blogs

For some webhosting companies, the remote posting feature for the wordpress blogs using xmlrpc has suddenly stopped working. Is there anything their shared webhosting customer can do to re enable the feature, or it can be changed only by the webhosting company.

Yes, but it's much safer to completely discount and disable XMLRPC. Contact your host and see why they blocked it.

  • Many ad networks are using remote posting for wordpress blogs , it is required if some money is to be made from the websites.

Why should an ad network have access to your XMLRPC?

Contact your hosting provider and ask to check mod-security audit logs.

  • Xmlrpc has been used in many attacks/exploits.
Probably the reason that it is blocked by .htaccess or something.
Only allow accepted IPs access the file and you have limited the problem.

  • Yes Mikho.. I had the same email from my current hosting provider to secure few of our clients WP websites.
