There's this awesome website called http://bgpvps.com/ that will redirect to a google spreadsheet containing providers that supports BGP :-D

Ask @tom if you have suggestions to additional providers on the list.

@William I went through your list 6 months ago and can say it's about 50/50. Some are still good though.

I don't remember who said what, but I do remember ExpertVM no longer offers BGP sessions with their VM's with the exception of one specific plan which is inflexible (so at-least the "Hosting" comment needs updating).

  • TaKeNTaKeN Member

BlaZe yes, you give VPS with BGP but setup fee is US$100 :-(

  • TaKeNTaKeN Member

Many company stop giving BGP because of abuse... or give so big setup fee :-(

  • You should pay yearly, not try to order monthly.

    :(
Tagging @randvegeta here so that he can explain you better why we charge $100 for it.

  • SplitIceSplitIce Member, Host Rep

@BlaZe $100 isn't too bad. Most of the time I see prices of $49/m - $100/m per session.

$100/m for what should be 15 minutes of router configuration time sucks and a few bytes of router ram, but it could be worse... you could be paying that monthly.

  • @aveline Ooh, you're selling now too :-) Neat.

Well first of all, it's not like we can advertise any IPs we like. We need to apply to our upstream, and that means submitting an LOA. In addition, we need to configure the routers, and eventually reconfigure/unconfigure when the client decides to cancel.

$100 one-time setup fee is actually kind cheap. No real money is actually made and I certainly don't want to be looking to setup BGP sessions for the sake of it.

Besides, obtaining an ASN and a subnet (normally an IPv4 range) would cost more than $100 /month, so if they cannot afford a setup fee, one wonders how they got the IP resources in the first place? Okay okay this guy has an IPv6 subnet, but still!

Besides, there are several free BGP providers like Vultr, and they actually work quite well. But I dont think you can just submit an LOA (that's very manual) and I think they need Route Objects set. I'm not sure if the OP can or knows how to do that, but in the event he can't or doesn't know how, then again, it will require man-hours to handle, and again that ain't free.

I appreciate the OP wants to learn, and may not have the funds, but $5 /month budget seems unrealistic outside of Vultr. I hope he finds someone generous enough to help him out but I'm not able to devote that kind of time to hold someones hand, nor do I feel the inclination to pay for these costs just because the OP wants to learn.

I believe the OP is from Poland, and I appreciate that perhaps Polish do not have the same amount of disposable income as perhaps in the UK, or Germany, but $10 /month for BGP enabled VPS is already very cheap, and would not rise to the level of 'expensive' by Polish standards.

    So just use Vultr!

  • Yeah, I wish Vultr would also allow you to directly assign and make VMs with an IPv4 from your block as their main IP, but they only let you do it with BGP sessions initiated on each and every VM itself

One VM per location for BGP, then use the internal network for NAT.
