Updating WHMCS?

Fellas. Just wanted to know if you all are upgrading your WHMCS to the latest 5.2.1 or the incremental 5.1.4. I see many hosts are updating to 5.1.4. Why is that more preferred? Compatibility with addons, perhaps?

Whmcs 5.2 no longer uses dbconnect.php to connect to the database. Hence it breaks many custom addons.

I just skipped all the hassle, and just applied the patch. No need to to a full update.

5.2 was good enough to announce as released on their blog but not their front page. Testing it but holding off for now.

  • I have it on a new install working well, but the upgrade from 5.1.3 just broke so i wont be using it any time soon.
