NodeDeploy KVM Review

Hello there LET, I've decided to make a review about my service I've had with NodeDeploy for quite a while.

I've got a KVM machine with 1GB of RAM and 4 CPU cores, and on a (shared) 1Gbp/s port.
The OS is Arch Linux 2013 (They put that ISO in espcially for me :D)

I've got 1 IPv4 address and 10 IPv6 addresses.

Support:

The support is great and they help you out quite quickly without having to ask a ton of questions to get them do what you want them to do.

VPS Performance:

IDE:
CPU model : QEMU Virtual CPU version (cpu64-rhel6)
Number of cores : 4
CPU frequency : 1999.999 MHz
Total amount of ram : 998 MB

System uptime : 2 days, 13:37,

VirtIO:

Control Panel:

SolusVM with a proper SSL certificate, I'm glad Chrome didn't moan about a non-valid SSL certificate, and RapidSSL is quite a good company.

Pricing:

Very cheap for the performance! NodeDeploy is absolutely way to go for the performance you get for the price!

Response Times:

The response time is actually very very long, but I have been told by their staff that they're only with 3 persons and they obviously can't be on all the time.

This is actually my first review and I know it isn't that long, but I hope it was quite alright for the first time.

I've never done a review, nor am I a fanboy...

Thanks for your very informative comment :)

  • Thanks for the review :-)

One question.. do you have virtio enabled?

Oh shit.... ._. disk driver = ide.

I'm such an idiot. I thought it would've been enabled.

    Edit: It no like VirtIO

I don't see why IDE is default.

It plays nice with more operating systems if you're not going to use Linux.

    Oh, I see. Thanks :)

  • @xBytez VirtIO usually has to be enabled preinstall

Nah, he just hates OpenVZ without good arguments for it ;-) (oh wait, that IS a fanboy :P he likes xen though)

This can usually be fixed pretty easy :)

    1. Change back to IDE and reboot via SolusVM.
    2. Edit /etc/fstab and replace all occurrences of /dev/sdX with /dev/vdX (ie. sda -> vda) and save the file.
    3. Now change back to Virtio again and reboot via SolusVM.

Your VPS should now boot up correctly ;)

  • Thanks for the review!
Yeah, there's only 3 of us but we do try and answer all tickets ASAP. :)
I am sorry if you experienced a slow response time, but hey, we will try even harder now.

indeed, I love KVM and I take a big poohoo on OpenVZ. I like Xen/KVM though..

Like I said earlier to I don't know who on Skype:

    no.1 KVM
    no.2 Xen
    no.999999999999999999999999 OpenVZ

Thanks for that, I was kind of too lazy to search for an solution.

Updated the thread with a new I/O speed.

  • this is lousy service. I m open a support ticket but nodedeploy not answered , no connections to my server for 2 days.
