Additional repo for centos
Hi,
I'm debian & ubuntu long time user.
In my work, i need to use centos 5.9.
Then i installed it, so far so good.
I use EPEL repo as additional repo. It seems that EPEL repo is good repo, come from fedora community.
Then, i need to install openssl 1.0.1, and found axivo repo https://www.axivo.com/community/threads/upgrade-to-openssl-1-0-1-in-centos.180/
Is axivo repo a good repo? (not give backdoor, etc). I can't find much info about this axivo.
Do you have recommendation for good centos repo with updated software?
How about IUS repo? http://iuscommunity.org/

Why don't you build it from sources if you don't trust this repo?
If you want to keep your system clean, you could easily adopt .spec file from old version to make your own .rpm.
I've just tried compiling vanilla openssl-1.0.1e on CentOS 5 and it finished without any issues:
cd /tmp && wget http://www.openssl.org/source/openssl-1.0.1e.tar.gz && tar zxvf openssl-1.0.1e.tar.gz && cd openssl-1.0.1e && ./config --shared && make

Because i'm still new to centos, and still not sure if this repo can be trusted or not.
That's why i'm asking to this forum.
The Axivo repo seems to be run by a legitimate company. They make a program called Searchlight, which is "basically a software that allows you to interface your PHP application with Sphinx, using an advanced API." The program is apparently used by xda-developers.com's forums. Whether or not you want to trust this company, of course, is up to you.
IUS on the other hand, is definitely legit. It's sponsored by Rackspace. If it comes down to a choice between this Axivo repo and IUS, I would go with IUS.
