E3 Xeon vs E5 xeon vs i7 3rd Gen, Which is better?

Hi all. Which CPU is better for gameservers? Intel Xeon E3-1245v2 or E5-2670v1 or i7 3770K? What can you suggest? Price Aren't Consider, Just the performance.

  • E3 and i7 are the same performance wise, but I would go with the E3 for reliability. The E5 is a nice CPU, but doesn't offer enough performance per core / thread as it is for games application.

    So E3 & i7 were better than E5 CPUs for gameserver hosting?

    Yes as most games prefer higher single threaded performance vs core count.
