Linux question
I'm going to be putting ubuntu (running 12.04) on a old xp box, as XP wants me to activate, don't have any more valid licenses, so I can't use XP.
I have a wireless driver for the computer, the driver doesn't appear to support linux(or I'm just not looking enough), I had it working at one point on my old linux box before it decided to die on me, however can't remember how I got it working.
Does anyone know how to get it to work?

ubuntu is magic and a lof of wireless cards in my experience 'just work'
...I don't see a question in your post.
Ubuntu 12.04 is free. You can download it and burn it to a CD, or put it on a USB drive and boot from USB.
Anyway, I'm guessing you're trying to get it working under Linux. It looks like you'll have to install it with ndiswrapper; it would be best to install Ubuntu with a wired connection, then work on getting wireless going once it's installed.

I know, I'm going to burn 12.04 to disk in about 1 minute, I'll try ndiswrapper.
@curtisg With ubuntu it normally auto detects nearly everything due to the massive open source community that make mos of the driver better then the companies. If it doesn't work I would recommend just loading the iso of 12.04, As it might be in the updates if its a newer driver.
If you can't get it to work just buy a licence for Windows XP, they are like 10€ now
I remember the day XP Pro was 120+ , I feel so old lol.
People saying things like that makes me feel old. I remember when DOS is what we were all using, and I'm only 27.
you can download Ubuntu 12.04.1 desktop live iso, burn a cd and run it to see if it supports your wifi (if it's an old card, it's probably supported)
If your card is supported, then install it to your hard disk.
Did ndiswrapper to install it, now I get Device not ready : firmware not installed.
ndiswrapper basically "wraps" the Windows wrapper and translates Linux functions into the Windows hooks. Did you use fwcutter to get the firmware out of the Windows driver?
No I didn't damian, no instructions said to use it, however I have b42-fwcutter installed. I've got no internet hooked up to it at all right now. I'll see if I can share my desktop pcs internet to it.
Ugh. 9-12 isn't always seamless. Just download the 12.04 iso.
I'm running 12.04

bcmwl5 H/W Present: Yes
bcmwl5a H/W Present: Yes
Result: Wireless Networks - device not ready (firmware missing)
Put temp. ethernet cord in it to make downloading files easier.
Finally fixed it. @Infinity
