OpenVZ Standard and KVM SSD Restocked

New servers, new node, more VPS to go around! Check out our refreshed stock of OpenVZ Standard VPS and KVM SSD VPS
With the demand of our OpenVZ Standard and KVM SSD, we’ve been having some trouble keeping enough stock. This is why we’ve opened up new servers for the two respective plans to ensure the quality of service provided remains.

StarHub Network added

A recent addition of yet another tier 1 network provider, StarHub, to OneAsiaHost has been made. This further strengthens the network from across Asia.
We’re committed to ever expanding our network quality and reach, so keep a lookout for future announcements of even more network provider additions!

SSD and Core VPS Plans

1. SSD VPS
What is available?

OpenVZ SSD VPS and KVM SSD VPS, offering better upgrade for performance.
SSD VPS gives better I/O speeds.

How exactly does SSD perform better than a normal HDD?

SSDs have no rotating parts and are purely memory chip based, that means you get really good read/write speeds along with low latency.
It will actually result in VPS performance increasing between 10 to 100 times faster.

OVZSSD-128 ServerBear Benchmark

What type of users would find this appealing?

With an SSD in tow inside your VPS it’s easier to run things that have performance as a critical element.
Examples where an SSD VPS will shine are for Database Servers, VPN, VOIP, or Game servers.

2. The Core
What is available?

OpenVZ Core VPS, a new kind of VPS from OAH focusing on High Bandwidth
Lowest plans start at 250GB Bandwidth reaching much higher if needed from bigger plans and add-on options

How can you offer this much bandwidth considering the bandwidth of your other plans?

Core VPS plans are routed via low cost links (no direct China), which currently is Hurricane Electric plus our peering links with Singapore Internet Exchange and Equinix IX SG.
Though latency isn’t optimized, it does allow us the flexibility to provide more bandwidth without changing the price

What type of users would find this appealing?

Core users will be people who want high bandwidth, not care about latency in general and just want to push data.
Works nicely especially if you want to go for File Hosting or Backup Servers.

3. The Standard
Standard VPS

the Standard VPS for OpenVZ and KVM are still available and are still ready if you need something for more general hosting usage.

4. Still More to Improve!
Feedback

New networks and new plans are constantly updated and added in, constant tweaks are also being made to improve performance and adjust to any unfortunate circumstances. But things can always improve further!

Still no chance for BGP session/peering?

  • @gbshouse said: Still no chance for BGP session/peering?

Was about asking the same :P

@Amfy - yeah, it would be nice if they can create the series of VMs with local traffic and limited international and possibility of setting up BGP session/peering :) (even not in LEB range)

  • No BGP session/peering. Problem is simple, (1) needs to be multihop eBGP due to the network architecture, I don't want multihop eBGP in my network. (2) My local providers all need manual documentation for adding routes. I spent a week playing ping-pong across their various "departments" just to get a more specific route added, and another week to get them to fix the route not appearing on some of their upstream/peers. At the prices OAH charges, going through all that hassle is not financially viable.

  • @Xima @Kenshin Any possibility to get something close to my requirements? http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/7721/request-3-10-vps-around-the-world-512-1024mb
I know Singapore is more expensive but $3/IP is really high.

Sadly no, we're kinda tight on IPs as well considering APNIC was the first to run out of IP allocations.
