@College wow, that's nice, it's gonna be hard to top
Also see their (Ikoula) Atom Offering with 2TB HD for €10.99
It looks like the 50% off promo is just for the first 1-3 months, but it's ok even after that, and some of the dedi deals look good too.
Have a look at dacentec. They have upped their prices a lil but you can still get 2x2TB with decent CPU and RAM for $35. I dont think anyone can beat that (specs and price with decent network)
If you do find a similar price, ping me as well. I am looking for an other backup server
Hetzner auction prices fluctuate but atm you can get an i7-2600/16gb with 2x 3TB drives for 29.41 euro ex vat, which is around 32 USD. I'm paying somewhat less for an i7-3770/32gb/2x3TB with them that I got over a year ago. The Opteron 1385 at Dacentec right now at $35/month with 2x2TB is much slower besides having less disk, but at other times Dacentec has had better offers.
The Hetzner auction also has i7-2600 with 4x4TB around 60 USD/month and no setup fee, which is around $5/TB if you don't mind raid 5. Next after that they have the SX-61 with 4x 6TB and an i7-6700(?) for around 75 USD + setup. So it all depends on what you want.
I've been quite happy with "Ikoula's Atom Offering with 2TB HD for €10.99". Make sure you read about their user verification process before signing up.
Yes that is an attractive offer. €5.5/TB with no RAID isn't the greatest any more, but even slow dedi is nicer than a VPS.
I looked in the verification part of the TOS and it said something about inspecting/deleting improper content from a web site, but that sounded like a DMCA or porn-publishing type of thing. For a storage server that's entirely private, I'd hope it's less of an issue, though encrypting backups stored there is probably wise.
Was there some other verification issue?
I picked up a 2x2TB Opteron 1381 machine from Dacentec for $20/mo last month as a storage box. Don't see it offered for this price now, though.
Hello,
We do not scan customer's servers content.
This sentence refers to "what must be done by the customer" after we receive a complaint.
The verificaiton process is about checking customer identity.
How does the €10.99 price work? It looks like its a promo code? Is it monthly recurring or just good for the month/3 months?
@Hadriel As far as i know there is no offer @10.99€ on our dedicated servers page (normal or discounted price) but yeah the discount is automatic and for the first three months.
