Request for a Dedicated Server
Hey Lowendtalk!
I am currently in need of a dedicated server and wanted to ask you guys for some help.
My requirements are:
- Dual CPUs (no decade old CPUs though! )
- 24GB RAM minimum;
- 1TB HDD minimum;
- /29 IP Space;
- Some form of DRAC/iLO; and
- Ideally located in Europe or Mid/Eastern US but open to suggestions. (Amsterdam or UK would be most ideal).
My maximum budget is $50 per month.
Thanks guys in advance for the help!

Dual CPUs... $50 per month..... I wish you luck!
Should be possible with AMD Opterons or some L5520/E5520..
OP said no decade old CPUs so there it is :-)
OP: you need it increase your budget significantly if you want to get this specs, especially with a good provider in the UK
Well.. A decade is 10 years.. the L5520 is from 2009 which makes it under a decade old
Budget is too low for your requirements.
I've fine with L5520/5630's (things around that time).
Budget is fine also, I've seen some stuff pop up for this price (no longer available though!). If a provider can suggest alternative specs, go for it. I'm easy!
We have some old dual quad cores (L5630), which almost fit your budget in Bulgaria. Though, it's far away from the UK.
You got me there. It's Sunday. Had a long week. Don't remember the release date of each CPU like that
I think those dual L55* will be comparable to a modern 4-core e3 or i7, so if you can consider one of those, Hetzner has lots of choices in your price range.
If you'd sell for E3v5, we could work out something better than your requirements are for ~$75 / mo in London.
PM if Interested.
One single E3 beats those dual CPU machines.
an E3 1240v2 easily beats Dual L55xx
If you still looking for I have available:
HP Proliant DL 360 2x Intel Xeon 2.26GHz 24 Cores L5640
18 GB RAM
4×146 GB HDD SAS 10000 rpm
10 TB on 1 Gbps port
/29 IP block
250GB of external Backup
Additional IP Address: $1.50/m
Recurring monthly of $ 49.00
@vpsrus this thread is from Dec '16.
WOW, thank you did not realize that.
Depends on the task. If you're virtualizing, take more cores over less but bigger ones.
Benchmarking is just an overall performance number, but there's a good reason that there are so many CPU models/variants. Each does have a marketed use/purpose.
http://cpubenchmark.net/ passmark numbers have been very accurate for my own workloads, which mostly parallelize well. So aggregate throughput is as important to me as single threaded 1-core speed.
