I wouldn't consider it by the looks of it most of the host offering hosting over ebay is overpriced I don't really think ebay is made for that sort of selling imo.
But they offer free shipping!
Well I'm not quite sure why you say they are overpriced since I'm seeing shared hosting going for as low as $0.99/mo. and also pretty decent yearly pricing, at least on the .co.uk offers.
This one looks fine, actually.
But I still can't get over the "Estimated Delivery within 8-14 business days" and "USPS First Class Mail Intl / First Class Package Intl Service". Like wtf?
Nope, because I don't like throwing my money away.
They send a tracking letter/package to prevent dispute/chargeback because ebay hates virtual goods and services.
I like to get mine shipped with Priority Mail and Shipping Insurance, just in case damage occurs while the parcel is in transit. Lol
Why?
I had purchased shared servers and VPS from Ebay. Some sellers are cheaters.
A company I used to work for used eBay for advertising web hosting and people certainly did buy from it. For some people who aren't as knowledgeable as us here, it's the go to place.
Interesting feedback, thanks guys!
nah, i just buy all the good HW from there for cheap.
Like yesterday 12 10G network cards for 9.99$ each, and a bunch of Quad port Gbit for 14$ :')
Lifetime web hosting for £5.99.... hmmmmmmmmmmmm
Out of interest I actually have, I bought a VPS and webhosting as an 'experiment' to see what the process was and how good it actually was. The VPS was hosted on OVH and it didn't have many issues but the shared hosting was horrific and I would definitely go with a reliable provider on here.
It's cheap for a reason most of the time.
With a slight chance to derails this thread: What's the intended use for all this lovely hardware?
On topic: Never thought about that before! However, if anyone had asked me about where to buy hosting, eBay would most certainly not be included in the list...
I did for a bit of fun and research a few years ago, actually it was fine, cant say it would be my first choice though.
"Not sketchy at all"
"We in business since 2007"
"AAAAAAAA+ Easy transaction, would buy again."
I bought hosting from ebay a 1 year whm reseller, 2 months later the hosting stop. Turns out the guy was given a :unlimited space/bandwidth" vps from a friend with cpanel/whm and the friend stop paying the bill. I got a full refund and did not really use it, so no big deal. But yea I would not do it again.
Ceph cluster
Any seller selling hosting on ebay are not professional and is lazy to create their own site
Just doesn't seem worth it to me. Plenty of perfect providers here. You can only go downhill.
Apologies as I do not have much (if anything of substance) to contribute to this thread. From my observations, LEB provides pricing and value hosting deals that match the best prices quoted on eBay.
Benefit of LEB is the level of peer review.
I'd also suspect more resellers typically offering shared hosting vs VPS.
I would not recommend it. Most of those providers that are posting offers are just resellers and I would guess they would not be here a year from now.
You can find a lot of great providers right here
Quad gigabit cards for 14$, where?
i hope yout get your server in bouble wrap.
maybe some scratches at shipment.
Will send you PM in a sec.
One happy customer i guess :')
I have and had a bad experience every time. Again maybe it was just me and I haven't bought anything recently.
The HP NC--- series of Gigabit cards are available dirt-cheap on Ebay (they are pulled from servers that include them by default) and come in 2-and-4-port varieties - I assume that's what he's talking about
All Intel NICs, of course
