Prometeus offload help

TorquemadaTorquemada Member
edited January 2013 in General

i signed up for the Prometeus offload service but I've no experience offloading mysql.

Anyone got any quick pointers?

I guessed that I could just import the database and point something somewhere but it seems there's maybe a lot more to it.

Grateful for any advise :)

I'd assume import database, do what you need to, get the remote connection information for SQL, update connection settings. Bam.

However I haven't used offload before.

  • You can just take an SQL dumb from phpmyadmin (if you use that)

    THat's about it, really.

    Export your local database.
Import it into Prometeus' offload service database.
Change all of your applications to point to the offload service.

  • Great, all working now, thanks all :)

  • Remember if they dont do it for you to restrict what ip's can talk to it.

Was not possible last time I asked, so I guess the only security measure you can do is to use really long passwords.
