3.5" to 2.5" adapters in SuperMicro servers
I am looking at buying a second hand SuperMicro system on eBay. It takes 3.5" drives but I want to put some 2.5" SSD drives in. Do the standard adapters place the ports in the correct position so the hot-swap caddies work?

We bought a specific 2.5 to 3.5" drive bay bracket that works fine with a used Supermicro system that we bought. Ports are properly aligned for the backplane. I can't seem to find the info for it, because Hall's search function isn't working, so remind me later today, here or in IRC and i'll ask Adam about it.

I've been using these in SuperMicro's Microclouds.
Turns out we're using Icy Dock too. They're a bit pricey, but we weren't able to find anything else to work.

I came across this part while looking at a slightly different config for the case I like.
Same here. Icydock is the only thing that will also work in 3.5" hot swap bays when you have a 2.5" drive.

Thanks guys. What about the side issue of whether SSD drives are supported in that SuperMicro server. Does anyone know the answer to that?
I didn't know ssd drives were ever NOT supported.
That's my initial view as well but the board/system is older and it just says SATA - not that it should make any difference really since SSD drives are presented to the system as SATA anyway... That's my understanding anyway. :-P Just checking!

@Oliver Should work fine, SATA 1.5-6 is pretty much a standard interface.
