netlify

hi

I heard about this service over on reddit. It's like github pages but with SSL for custom domains:

https://netlify.com

I also saw a page hosted on there and their server doesn't ask the browser to cache static content. So that's not great but apart from that it sounds interesting. Anyone here tried it?

  • Used it before during beta. IIRC, you could set custom headers.

yeah? that's nice. It's got redirect support and http2 too.

Yeah, we use it. Easy to use, well priced, no disruptions in about 6 months and a great team behind it. Speed is very good. You can set some headers in an .htaccess-like file. I think you can configure browser caching with that file. Redirects, custom SSL or Lets Encrypt and form handling are easy.

We use Netlify for http://virtengine.com & http://docs.virtengine.com - Our main site is a standard website (HTML) and our docs is a staticly generated documentation based on Python. Netlify works great for both usecases, it builds our docs on the go (Continous Integration).
