Question about OpenVPN encryption

So from what I've heard, if the server that is running OpenVPN has the "aes" flag you should run AES-128-CBC in order to have the most lightweight/efficient encryption. And if your servers' CPU doesn't have the "aes" flag you should use BF-CBC. But my question is, does BF-CBC use less CPU than AES-128-CBC on a processor that has the "aes" flag?

Comments

  • I believe that you can ONLY found the difference when the processor is extreme poor.
For example, you want to set the VPN client on a budget home router.
