Inbound/Outbound BW question

If two different providers are co-located in the same DC and I pass traffic from one to the other, will outbound bandwidth traffic from provider 1 count as inbound traffic for provider 2 or are those considered free since they reside in the same location (or even use the same switch)?

Thanks

Likely the traffic will be counted, but ask the providers as they're the only ones who can tell you for sure.

Some providers don't charge for inbound, most do. You'd have to ask the providers involved.

Switch to a provider who do not charge BW ;)

  • sometime providers hosted in same co-location are using different ISP for outbound traffic, so its better to ask this question to the support team of your hosting providers.

It depends when the counters are installed. Ask the provider in question, they, and perhaps your contract, is the best and only reliable source of information regarding this.
