@rds100 - Sounds about right from what I remember, but it must be coming up for 10 years I have been verified, I struggle with what happened last week.. :)

I also pay 0 fees for online transactions and, unlike other countries, I have to specifically ask at the bank to block online transactions, not the other way.
However, you can still pay with paypal without having an account, just with the card as a paypal guest.
Maybe some providers really want your card details and will not accept this way of paying, I would avoid them same like those that request pictures to steal your identity or leave it in the servers for hackers and WHMCS or other billing software backdoors.
There will always be providers that accept anonymous payments, be it paypal or bitcoin, LR, whatever.

  • Yes, yes it is.

It's only a small amount of transactions but it's £15 - £20 that could be spent on something else.

@rds100 said: Seems paypal verification procedures vary a lot between countries. For me getting verified was as easy as entering 4 digits found in the card statement.

I had to add my bank account, then do the four digit thing, and then after that PayPal wouldn't let me switch the default back to my credit card.

  • Maybe the reason is that in some countries getting a card is easy and doesn't need verification. Here to get a card you have to go to a bank, show your ID there, etc. - so you are already verified (by the bank) if you have a card.

  • Not sure about bank transfers, but the usage fees for debit cards are £1.50 per International trans.

@rds100 said: What kind of shit banks do you guys use? I pay zero transaction fees for online payments with my card.

FIBANK charges me like 1$ for each online transaction

  • I get charged £1 at LLoyds TSB per international payments.

  • $5 says this shortsighted decision will be reversed because of the international issues and Stripe or some kind of other credit card processor will be enabled

Then drop them. DSKbank charges me 0.00 per transaction (ok, they charge me 0.15lv per SMS, since i have SMS notifications turned on).
