Hi
As above, what licenses and VM service could I go for to get a ASP.NET web server with mssql going?
I supposed 512mb lowendbox might cut it?

  • If you don't have your own license, BuyVM offer Windows 2003 for free with their KVM plans.

  • Burst.NET with 10% off coupon code YEAREND10 :)

  • Hi
Burst.net seems to have really nice pricing but is it reliable?
Is there any free or cheap control panel that I can use?

@eloi - yeah WebsitePanel, Windows VMs try EDIS or Prometeus

  • Or, if you can get hold of your own windows licence, quite a few providers allow you to use your own image and licence on a KVM server.

We have legally licensed windows Server 2008RC2 Web (does not work with it) Standard and Enterprise.
Lowest Biz plan is 1 GB 11.57 Eur.
There is also the gray area of getting your own license.

    I beg to differ:

I guess it depends on provider.

@Maounique - it depends from server load, in my case 350MB just for MySQL plus 300MB for main web app. Memory load is always around 80%.
