    It is very high performance disk space. SSD and SAS storage is expensive but worth it if you want that extra level of performance.

  • Hi ramnet,

    Do you have template based OS?

    Can I request increase of memory to install CentOS?

    Thank you.

  • What is the dd for this. How much difference from SSD.

    @wlsiew

    These are direct from cd/dvd iso installs only. memory intensive operating systems like CentOS/Fedora/OpenSUSE won't work. I can confirm that Arch Linux, Debian, FreeBSD, Gentoo, and Ubuntu work. OpenBSD and Slackware probably work too.

    @darknessends

    hdparm -Tt /dev/sda

    /dev/sda:
    Timing cached reads: 5200 MB in 2.00 seconds = 2601.14 MB/sec
    Timing buffered disk reads: 1314 MB in 3.01 seconds = 436.51 MB/sec

    dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 4.36753 s, 246 MB/s

    Performance is similar to SSD.
