Should I get Offshore hosting that ignores DMCA ?
Hello,
I want to make a music streaming website which will stream off songs either from YouTube or SoundCloud and here is the question, since the content hosted on YouTube or SoundCloud is copyrighted and I will be implementing such system on my website which will allow to stream such content, should I be worried about DMCA or just get Offshore hosting ?

If you ask for an advice how to avoid penalty I suggest you ask you lawyer not some random guys on the forum, some of who directly benefit from lying to you that law is not going to catch up with you ;-).
Well ...if you get cought...then definitely you will be in problems.....
All content is mostly or 99% copyright protected...
You are better of with offshore hosting ...but there is no such thing as 100% sure..you won't get copyright notices....
If you want to do some research ...look at what happened with megaupload.com...
host it in iran you be fine.
Stupid comment of the day.
Until they import freedom.
If you get as big as megaupload no amount of DMCA proof hosting will protect you. For a small site you should be fine as long as you don't host the content - but it's still shady from a legal and provider point of view.
YouTube might be the ones who get pissed off, since they won't be getting their ad revenue!
iranian govt hosts warez sites so am sure he will be fine. plus they don't have to act on copyright notices.
You don't need to go offshore.
Just pretend that you are trying to clamp down on copyright infringement until you get big enough to dictate the terms of royalty payments to original artists.

Wow. It is weird to see who calls themselves "artists"
import = bomb
Yeah? I know, thats why i posted it.
Since, if Clinton wins, nothing is more safe in this Area.
Well, if you find a company that can provide you "offshore" hosting they will probably sell your information to copyright holders. Most companies saying they are offshore is usually reselling Voxility or OVH.
@cociu
So in general I should be fine with Russian offshore hosting which will stream k-pop for example ?
K-Pop is banned in Russia.
Wut ? o_O
I know, I found out the hard way unfortunately.
I don't understand your problem.
Simply create a wordpress blog and write about K-Pop or whatever music genre you are interested in while embeding the youtube videos and soundcloud songs through some wordpress plugin?
Nothing illegal about it.
Freedom is different thing for each other
I would assume that he wants to do something more like a radio station-style application that blasts out the K-Pop hits without all the distraction of those scantily clad young ladies dancing around seductively.
Looks like people here are having fun with memes and stuff.. haha
I would have to agree with LinuxTheFish here
If you become big enough nothing will protect you.
Hope it helped
Enjoy!
Streaming is legal in many counties, only avoid countries such a USA, UK and Germany with crazy strict copyright laws.
Central Europe will be fine, Hungary, Czech, Poland etc. They also offer unlimited traffic. Fine for streaming purposes.
I interpret this as "there is a rich story in which a K-Pop smuggling Nekki is tracked down by the KGB, forced to go to the gulag, covers his body in Russian prison tattoos, and finally makes a desperate break for freedom, and finally reaches the shores of Britain. In a live television special, he performs Gangham Style and receives a medal from PSY."
You're wrong. It's not stupid, it's the stupidest
YouTube... their whole model, they managed to time it perfectly. I wish I built a platform to upload loads of nicked content that I could monetise...
I guess you do too OP
