What do you use to monitor externally?
Nixstats is great for internal usage monitoring and I believe they also have simple external checks now too? Correct me if I'm wrong.
What do you guys use to externally? Sometimes I don't want an unnecessary agent on my server for somethibg like a simple ping check. UptimeRobot looked good, but I need something with 1-minute check intervals and latency graphs. The latter doesn't have to be fancy or complicated/detailed. I'm willing to pay if it gets me a more stable service, but free ones are not out of the question.
Of course, email and SMS alerts need to be there. Would also like the service to confirm in multiple locations before marking the check as down. Maybe I'm stating the obvious here?
Looking forward to hear what you guys use.

I am using PRTG self hosted and StatusCake.
NodePing
Node ping
5 Minutes UptimeRobot
UptimeRobot every 5 minutes, free and reliable. Will look into NodePing for more frequent monitoring!
Nagios.
We developed our own solution for both internal and external monitoring. Nothing fancy but it does the trick. Besides that, using uptimerobot and nixstats.
@NodePing as well
Custom monitoring + uptime robot.
@onepound's complimentary external monitoring (1 vps purchase ) has been giving me very good results for 16+ months. (1 minute interval)
Statuscake free tier has been rubbish for me every time I check.
My own built monitoring using Python, MySQL & PHP (uses pushover.net for notifications), and Uptime Robot.
Statuscake ;-)
Internal: Observium, Nagios and Smokeping
External: Panorama9, New Relic and Monitis

UptimeRobot with Pushbullet notifications for mobile devices.
Thanks folks. Will try some of the suggested ones this weekend.
