Online.net

Hey guys

So I recently got an online.net dedicated.
The speedtests are fantastic at around 112 Megabyte/s

My vm over at VMBox is also superfast with its speedtest

When I login to a FTP server via ncftp though.. I only get around 500Kbps on the online.net.. however over at VMBox I get around 25Megabyte/s so I know that the FTP server is capable of way more than 500Kbps

Is there something vastly different or is there some sort of config?

Thanks!

  • Where is your location? Speedtests are based on nearest possible locations, while uploading/downloading from/to your PC is completely based on your current PC location.

  • Config issue, not relevant to the server's network.

Also check if you can use ssl so they don't throttle your connection.

The FTP server is in the States. Vmbox is in US and online.net is in fr? But I shouldnt be at 500K.. That is pretty low

  • probably online.net peering. i'm in EU and sometimes get ~600kbyte or 5.8mbyte/s transfer speeds.

What @mosan7763 said. Online is awesome, but their peering with NA is just bad at time...
