bad or naughty sector, refusing to cooperate with you
Is it a way to fix it in kvm console?
get your dc to fix it, they have to manage hw
I bought this server though it came with the hard drives already the two hard drives that are in the server are all I have with it. I have it in colo through Incero but I don't have anymore disk drives so I need to fix the ones I have I bought the server as is.
google for the right tools for your os to check n fix bad sectors
Question is it missing or failing?
I've not used this personally, so can't say. Get anything for fdisk?
You cannot fix bad sectors with any software. The hardware inside is damaged overtime with use. You'll need to have it replaced or repaired by the manufactures themselves.
"Fixing" bad sectors with software is actually scanning and marking them so the drive will skip reading/writing them. It will survive for a little longer but if you intend to use the server for production or longer than 1 year, I would advise replacing HDD with new one.
Better boot some rescue mode and show us output of smartctl -a /dev/sda
How do I do that? The server has no ip or an OS yet?
You can correct that error by using a different diskette.
If your box is at Incero they require a remote management port. You can usually mount virtual isos through there.
If the disk is failed, ship a new one. Welcome to being a server owner.
I'm willing to bet @Incero will help you with open arms...
