Time4VPS (standard VPS) any experience ?

I'm looking for cheap EU VPS and found Time4VPS. I need some reviews about their standard VPS especially disk I/O speed, worldwide connections speed and uptime. Thank you.

  • The "dedicated CPU" is not dedicated. You will be throttled if you overuse CPU resources. Otherwise, the price is great for what you get.

Report that IO, it's not normal. Their standard VPS have more IO than that.

    Hello,

We provide 40 MB/s I/O speed. ~36 MB/s is not bad at all.

You should increase that. Actually, I have more than that in our vps.

Suggestion : progressively higher soft limits for higher spec plans.

    40 sequential is fine for a 512mb 12euro/y vps.

What are your soft limits on IOPS on regular SSD vps? (i only have multiple storage vps)

Thank you, we will consider you suggestion.

RAID speed on all servers is the same: 40 MB/s and 400 IOPS. Take a note, that standard VPS's use SAS arrays with SSD cache.

Interesting enough, that we have this configuration over 2 months now and no single complaint regarding I/O issue. If anyone run real world application and encounter I/O problem (not via synthetic tests) - contact us immediately.

It's fine for my uses and wasn't a surprise since I'd seen other benchmarks from them.
If it impacted my use, I would raise it with @time4vps. As it stands the service is fantastic and my only wishlist item would be fuse support.

  • We saw too much network downtime for our use in Lithuania.

    We haven't.

We just wish @time4vps had a phone number, or Skype... Something that'd get us to be able to reach them faster. :P

You seem to be asking a lot from someone which provides a 1€/month VPS which actually seems to be reliable considering the price.

For that price, whatever you get which stays up and is actually usable, should be good. Even 10 MB/s of stable I/O and 40 IOPS would be more than reasonable. You know that most European ISPs will charge 1-2€ just for the single IPv4.

I guess people will always be asking for the world in this forum.
