Good server & webscript suggestions for personal file download site
Hi all,
Im looking for suggestions, i want to have my own subdomain e.g "files.mydomain.com" that will serve files for me.
Does anyone know any good packages that have lots of disk space (around 50gb starters) & bandwidth (1TB +) for a budget of around $5 (or less) a month?
Also, can anyone recommend a pre-made script that i can upload files to, and then will generate a download link for me to give to people to download the file? I will be the only one uploading (not a public service) if that makes any difference.

I recommend ownCloud as the software.
I know that VPSCheap.NET offers some unmetered backup plans, but they restrict how you use the plans. (They scan your vps for piracy, etc.)

Any PHP file upload scripts should work, try using nginx for static file serving - the performance is usually better.

BudgetVM offer 80GB / 3TB for $4.99 a month, I have one of those. The transfer speeds aren't that great, but it works.

But I have problem with the 2co, it's not fast in processing the order, so I just cancel it.

2checkout is payment processor, it's quite fast, it all depends on the info you provide etc which may cause it to be pushed into a queue for further investigation which is our of our "SemoWeb" control..
Once that initial process is done then everything else works like a charm ;D
P.S If anyone needs some 10TB "TRUE 10TB Usage allowed" then just contact our sales team and we will throw some stock in.

I personally have worked with the owner on some projects or do we have to recommend "LEB/LET endorsed providers" all the time? I would trust the man since he owns his own physical servers and is in the process of having his own AS assigned over some folks reselling out of budget DCs but that's just me
