  • Yeah the Ajax stuff is still buggy. Refresh the page is needed sometimes.

    Hehe, yeah, seems that they just work in the front page and not in the categories. (They work in the tags, btw).

    I understand the idea, but I am not sure I would take the risk to go back to some kind of v2...
    But if I had a way to hide some threads, for myself only of course !!!!!!!

    @TigersWay yes i know that. i'm just referring to @drmike :D and also, i think we need this too for "LEB Best Provider Q3 2011". :P

    @drmike for some more touch in the code we can disable it.

    ~#: cat class.voting.plugin.php | grep down
                // i comment out this line // $VoteDownUrl = '/discussion/'.$VoteType.'/'.$ID.'/votedown/'.$Session->TransientKey().'/';
             // Only allow users to vote up or down by 1.
                      // Get the users that voted the comment down.
          if ($TransientKey == 'voteup' || $TransientKey == 'votedown') {
             else if ($VoteType == 'votedown')
  • At the beginning of this thread I did ask about whether a +1/-1 voting, or just a "Thank" link. The later was preferred.

  • I'm not a fan of it now not showing who created a thread if someone else has posted in it. Yes, I noticed that their name shows up if you hover over their gravatar, but its just plain annoying to have to do that to see who created a thread.

  • Re: @NickM I guess I wasn't imagining that from before.

  • Wow, we already have 14k messages?

  • 97% spam

  • @NickM -- yes I'll try to get that added back. I did it by modifying the template before, which got overwritten when I upgraded Vanilla. I am trying to rewrite some by writing a Vanilla plugin, which is not as flexible unfortunately.

  • I'm just going to throw this out but I would suggest considering turning off the draft feature. I know on most platforms that we use and support, we wind up turning it off. Most folks don't seem to need it and you wind up with a whole lot of extra data records with no real purpose in the database. Plus it's not like we're writing John Jake around here.

    Maybe that's where we've gotten 14+k posts here all of the sudden.

  • OK, I'll ask. How do we delete a draft here? I don't see that option.

  • @drmike, hovering your draft and you'll notice there's some [x] button in the upper right corner message box.

    Thanked by 1drmike
  • Thanks. We turning into another librarything?

  • On the main discussion page you'll also see

    • All Discussions
    • My Bookmarks
    • My Discussions
    • My Drafts

    which you can click in to manage your saved drafts. Old drafts also get deleted in database so don't worry about the database size :)

  • @LowEndAdmin First place I went looking. Didn't see the x though. Librarything does the same thing. Hides the commands unless you hover over them.

    Thanks

  • That seems to be the new trend of UI/UX to minimise cluster and only showing the controls when you are in context.

    Sucks for tablet users as you don't have "hover".

  • @LowEndAdmin it appears that threads made in the offers category (and maybe the offtopic) one don't bump back to the front page when a new post/comment is made. This makes them hard to find since there's no "New Posts" option here.

    Like this gem I found on page 2 that has new posts just from this morning:
