VMWare NAT

Doing some work for a client - the client is on VMWare behind the proprietary NAT firewall. VPS provider says port 53 is open/forwarded (which nmap confirms).

Have set up NSD on the VPS which is listening on all ports and responding to a dig @localhost for the domain, but I can't seem to dig @ public IP from either the VPS itself or the outside world - it says can't connect. I also can't seem to connect to port 53 using telnet - again can't connect.

Just wondering if it sounds like I misse anything before I suggest to the provider that they may have done something wrong?

nmap should not be able to confirm anything if telnet can't connect, I'd recommend you re-run said nmap.

Never mind, just been told the client wants to use Zone Edit. Thanks anyway.
