  • Correct. Originally in 2004 through 2008 and am getting back into the industry after doing other things for a while. Thanks!

  • This is the part that worries me (no offensive), that when you state a minimum of #GB of ram. This is VPS hosting, not shared hosting, and every additional GB of RAM on the host node being allocated to the customers equals to less CPU power per GB of RAM. I think this is actually a bad thing for the customer as there are more potential people using the same CPU core which could mean less performance. Unless you are providing insane ram VPS (like vpsdime), I don't think it's a good idea to use that much ram in the host node, performance wise. The few thousand dollars you save now could potentially give you a bad name (poor performance, oversold, etc.) just doesn't seems to worth it.

  • @TheOnlyDK I think you're basing that on the assumption that a provider will fully allocate all the available ram on a server and if that was the case I would agree with you that it's a bad thing. Host nodes have different size accounts on it so the amount of CPU power varies from server to server but at the end of the day it boils down to how the host node is managed by the provider.

That is true and I do agree with you, but you know a dual E5 with 128GB of ram will not have the same performance as a dual E5 (same CPU) with 64GB of ram, unless you are willing to maintain both nodes at the same amount of ram usage, and in that case, there's no point of installing 128GB of ram into a server if you are not gonna use it.

  • Anyone else here having 'that feeling' about this provider

@TheOnlyDK We can get into great details on it but lets just say a company needs to make money to stay in business especially if they have real expenses and not just a one man operation with cheap rented servers. The type of margin that's needed varies but we are more than ok with not seeing a profit for over a year on each server (server costs, colo costs, etc). If a company with 64 gb systems want a high margin they'll stack it as much as possible so it goes back to how the company manages the node.

I'm not here to argue with you about how you do your business, and I have no intentions on trashing you. Let's just say that for this price I can expect more than a crappy E5 with 128GB node.

  • @TheOnlyDK Really? The turn off for you wasn't the fact this is like the 123182673189623th host operating out of Psychz here? To me that is more of a reason not to buy then the whole ram issue that was brought up. There is an overwhelming amount of hosts that have deals in LA/Psychz/Globalfrag/Quadranet now, and honestly I want nothing to do with any of them. I am just waiting for the other shoe to drop and all the sudden these groups start pulling a 'Gordon' from Incero and start randomly upping the prices on their clients, either that or just start consuming these companies for their debts.

However, getting past that, as this is an offer from someone I have never seen participate here either, that's another big red flag for me when it comes to purchasing servers from hosts like this. If you care about your business, the least you could do is participate in the community before spamming your wares.

    my 2 cents.

    Cheers!

I personally have no issues with Psychz/Quadranet/Globalfrag, they might be having some insane colo deals going on right now hence all these providers going with them. Quality wise, there are better ones like Ramnode's KVM, digitalocean, even vultr might be better (at least was better when they were still using the E3s). Price wise, there are cheaper ones. Arubacloud is awesome and only 1 Euro a month, though only in the Europe, and tens of other lowend providers offering 1GB KVM with less than $7 a month.

The things that worry me are:
    1. A new provider started half a year ago
    2. Super high ram on host node, which means oversold CPU and disk for sure.
    3. This business model thing and how he does business thing worries me

Anyways, these are just my personal opinions, may or may not be correct.

  • I know Kiet Dong since he started hostingzoom, then resellerzoom and modvps (All hosting/servers brands). I can guarantee you guys that he know what he does. They were very good brands, now they are being operated by Landis Holdings/JaguarPC (Greg landis)

I would definitely give it a try.

  • hi ioZoom, coupon code has expired.Do you have a new coupon code?
