Im doing linux script to gather various data about an webhosting company (example hostgator.com).

Example i gather:

  • whois of their domain

  • country and IP where their website is hosted

  • crawl third party webpage and lookup if there is no negative review and output result

  • place for the people to add reviews

  • considering some search engine crawler that will find forum threads about the company and output them, but this can be trouble and against SE TOS.

aim is to have as much important data about provider on one page, data will be browsed by people who may be interested to order service

please what more data i should gather on that page?

    Know what their selling.

Many providers put wall of texts of generic things on the page and don't even know what their selling.

  • Why we should choose them instead of other equivalents.

  • a list of the products they have would be good. Some sites hide a few things away and you wouldn't even know they sell something if you were just casually browsing. This script would be a great way to get all products on the page listed easily.
    Good luck with it

  • Maybe parse their tos and look for unusual stuff? could be keyword based to make it easy on the server.
