VNCServer Issue?

plumbergplumberg Veteran, Megathread Squad

I have installed Debian GNU/Linux 7 (wheezy) on my online.net box. I also installed VNCServer. I can connect to that from tightvnc viewer client (windows). However, many times, as soon as I click on connect i get an error "Authentication failure" (without even prompting me for a password). So, I need to ssh to the server and restart the VNC service. Then, I am able to connect again.

There is no firewall issue, as the session starts once, it stays connected for a long long time.

What am I doing wrong here?

  • There are log files in ./vnc directory, look in there for something helpful ?

Will try that. Thanks. Anything else I can look for?
