Honesty is what strikes me. I don't want to be bullshitted by my provider.
A provider that isn't afraid to admit they made a mistake and try and correct it.
Fair point. That's what I sort of intended by history. Making mistakes is fine thats human. Admitting and fixing is what makes it right
Ah I thought you meant as in a proven track record of uptime or debt etc.
I will always think honesty is one of the biggest things. It builds trust between provider and client. The other thing I feel is important is how they deal with support requests in both how it comes across to end user (e.g arrogant or a rude response or friendly) and promptness not to mention willingness to help to a degree.
Honesty is the best policy. Trust is also a good one
Preference between Android or iPhone.
Preferred car brand
Another big one for me is reviews, always check reviews for a host before spending any sort of money on them.
How many CC resellers they have to go through to get stuff fixed.
Reliability.
Network stability and reliability
Reliability.
This is #1. Without a solid provider, it doesn't matter if they're provisioning me a 256-core 48TB server with unlimited fusion-io and dedicated 10ge network.
Did I hear GVH?

Fresh IPs (at least not blacklisted in different email providers)

In my experience this does tell you a lot about a person.
Not really. Their justification does.
