Hourly provider with batch VM creation/control

DalCompDalComp Member
edited November 2015 in General

I'm looking for hourly-billing provider with which I can:

  • create template/backup from an existing VPS.
  • using the above template, create multiple VPS at once.
  • batch control multiple VPS (reboot, terminate, etc.) with single operation.

I am currently using RunAbove with their Openstack Horizon, but afaik they are closing at around end of year.

So which provider(s) have such features? Or API is my only friend?

  • Do you want to do this via a web interface or an API?

Amazon ec2 comes to mind, but it's at a price range you're probably not looking at.

Best if it has an instance under/around LEB pricing.

I see cloudsigma has batch clone feature. This works too, but please let me know if there are other alternatives. :)

  • you use DO to accomplish all that

I've got a student bitnami account, but haven't used it for anything.

Maybe give it a try with digitalocean to see if it works? @Jarland Jar might have more insight

    Here's the bitnami link https://digitalocean.bitnami.com/

It might only launch bitnami images, I don't know if bitnami has api to launch multiple DO VMs at once.

  • DO interface can only create/control one server at a time. CMIIW @jarland

Yeah, this is true. People with the need to perform batch actions on VMs tend to use API. Granted, the API is fairly easy and could be scripted into some quick and dirty bash scripts without much effort.
