I might have missed it from the previous thread, but have you fully released the storage VPS product? The Storage VPS products previously talked about, you said weren't the final options I think. Looking forward to your offering to see how it compares.
For backups something like Amazon Glacier or Google Nearline often works out pretty cheap.
Other cheaper storage servers might be https://www.online.net/en/dedicated-server/dedibox-st48 with 48TB disks for 220€/month or http://www.euserv.com/en/dedicated-server/filer-rootserver/v4/filer-xxl-v4.php with 32TB disks for 190€/month.
haha, you want OVH pricing outside of OVH? Are you insane? You will not get that.
Well if you read the thread you'd see I don't expect much. I've already found two places offering close pricing(reliablesite and hetzner), and the reason for not wanting OVH is because I already have two of their storage servers in each location they offer. I am also willing to pay somewhat above OVH pricing, as my OP says. I figure it does not hurt to ask at least, and I did get two options out of it, so I've hardly come back empty handed.
Unless you have something useful to say, I'd appreciate it if you not post useless comments about "lolovhpricing", I'm well aware of that already.
Surely, but I'm looking for actual servers foremost
online.net is France, I have that covered, euserv is an option I did not know about I'll add it to my list, thank you.
Unless you are actually going to put 30TB of content on there day 1 then you're going to be saving money on something like object storage.
You can just scale it up and pay as you need. So if you're using 1TB day 1 then 10TB 60 days later you're not paying the excess you don't need.
My aversion for object storage like things is mostly the lack of control over the data security, while I can certainly encrypt all I want before sending the data out, I sleep somewhat better at night knowing it is on a dedi I lease and in theory no one should have access to(other than physical access, but that is another debate). But as I said, I'm not exactly opposed to spending some money, so object storage + some servers is something I am considering too. Never hurts to have more backups in place.
Even KVM Storage VPS would allow you to scale up and give you more control over your data. You can just keep adding space as you need it. Our Storage VPS will allow 100TB per disk.
Still no pricing or details or link to order? Any idea on when?
Once you've assembled an 80TB porn collection, you don't want to let it go...
Actually only a third of it is porn I think. I mostly don't backup that part of my collection since I can easily get it all back anyway. The stuff I don't want to lose is my own created content like raw video and photos I've taken over the years, as well as my raw graphics assets from when I did graphic design and such. Things I can't really reproduce easily.
Son, you've just stated you own 24TB of porn.
Maybe deciding where to store it isn't the real problem...
That's a good one.
How would you find the time to watch 24TB of educational movies?
Hetzner auctions would be really great choice to stay on topic.
Why on earth would anyone need that much porn? Unless it's in 4k + 120 hz 3D with some VR elements embedded.
Which do you want object storage or Storage VPS?
Well if you had actually read the post instead of just the part that interested you, you'd see what I'm interested in storing is my own content that I cannot replace. Having a porn collection is besides the point here. If you don't approve or otherwise perhaps have some complex about talking about pornography publicly I'd ask you make a discussion of it elsewhere(perhaps the cest pit?).
I do not per se "need" it, I got most of it from work actually. I used to work at a professional video studio, clients sometimes include pornography studios. Getting free copies of all my video work is just a bonus of sorts, one that I don't complain about. Also, as you speculated, a lot of it is the raw recorded video from the cameras. It is actually surprisingly little in total content.
I think what everyone wants to say is "You gonna share that, bro?"
Whoa, dude. I didn't really mean anything other than to make a joke for the community's amusement.
80TB of home NAS storage is a lot in 2015 and highly unusual. Stating you have 24TB of porn is likewise a lot in 2015 and highly unusual. When I read the internet, I find that things that are highly unusual tend to be joked about. That's all.
It is all stuff commercially available, and probably available elsewhere, private trackers perhaps? I could suggest some places probably if you want.
Sorry English is not my first language, I don't really understand joking too well. I had not intended to be rude either, I was simply suggesting if you did not approve of pornographic things to have a discussion about it in another thread as this thread is about finding storage servers.
Is it? I feel like this should be normal by now, I know some people with a 200TB home NAS, I feel like they are the unusual ones.
Well, it was for work, I got to keep a lot of it as a free "bonus" of sorts.
@setsura
try this will this one ok for you

Not even close
Interesting option for the UK, a bit expensive at 330EUR(from GBP), but I suppose that is the price for UK. Thank you.
Strange, I guess it is because I mostly know "techy" people who work at datacenters and telecoms, they all have a large home NAS usually.
@setsura have a chat with their support team you can get better deals just have a conversation and are you ok with the specs
yeh 5-10 or even 15TB but not 80TB
some fortunate ones have 80TB NAS in the home not ALL my friends friend have one 120+ but just to show off
Most I have is 12-16TB. Simply don't have the content to justify anything larger.
More interested in the storage VPS information. Thinking of dumping one of my Time4VPS storage vps.
Let me know what you need, we've got some great storage VPS
I am playing with a 2TB one at the moment, some tests for you:
FIO (15 jobs / 1 depth):
write: io=31379MB, bw=3124.8MB/s, iops=3124, runt= 10042msec
FIO (20 jobs / 1 depth):
write: io=31749MB, bw=3167.4MB/s, iops=3167, runt= 10024msec
DD 64K:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/vdb bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
16384+0 records in
16384+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 3.27381 s, 328 MB/s
80 TB home NAS is normal in 2015? And here I am, facepalming everytime I am asked by my friends "why the frack you need 6 TB of storage on your work PC?". I agree most of them can't distinguish between SATA and IDE or know what an SSD is, but still even with those who do (talking about the tech elites, gamers, world renowned overclockers) 80 TB home NAS is NOT normal here.
Couple of years back, a friend wanted a 48 TB media server for home and asked me to arrange one (I was working with a DC vendor at that time) and even that was a pretty amusing day at work.
This is America! You can have as many TB in your home NAS as you want.
"CAN" is the word. Technically, I CAN dressup like powergirl (showing my moobs and hairy legs). But doesn't mean that it won't be amusing if I decide to go work dressed that way.
