Best reverse proxy?
Looking for a good reverse proxy software. Wanting to deliver maximum amount of performance (requests/s).
Server has 256MB RAM. Running Apache/Drupal 7/SQLite3.
So far I've been having luck with Squid but the documentation is lacking and there are no good config examples available. I am having some issues with the cache-control settings, so am looking to see if there is a better/simpler alternative to Squid.
Tried Varnish but couldn't get it to start, just ate all RAM & Swap on service startup and made server crash regardless of setting.
Any other tips welcome!

How about nginx?
+1 NGINX, hello?!?
For web reverse proxy I think Nginx is the best.
I know pretty well about squid, varnish etc, but they most probably are for web caching, for reverse proxy purpose they behave not as good as nginx.
If you need to serve static files as fast as possible, place Nginx in front
If you need to serve dynamic ESI-enabled content, place Varnish in front
New: To serve dynamic content with HTTP cache, use Nginx with FastCGI cache
New: Unix sockets are faster, but fall over at high load (important)
Nginx
Have a look at HAProxy. Also does pretty advanced load balancing. And quite easy to configure.
I am seeing worse performance with Nginx as compared to Squid, and much higher load.
Any tutorials on optimizing nginx?
For static assets though, nginx beats everything out of the water.
@littleguy instead of a lmgtfy, i'll go all out.
