    That's much better than "something is broken" (without further info)

    "It doesn't work for me."

    When asked for further information... "it just doesn't work."

    When asked for a specific error message, "something about an <...> and a <...>"

    And so on, and so on, and so on.


    Also, a particular attitude I dislike: trying to fix someones shit, and then getting comments on how my solution is going to break everything and they don't want it and they don't trust it etc. - if they really were as wise regarding their own machine as they think, they probably wouldn't need to ask me to fix it in the first place.

    Nothing more frustrating than trying to fix something, and seeing 80% of troubleshooting time go into arguing with the user about things they really have no clue about.
