ext3 vs ext4
Hello,
Ary any of you guys using ext4 and do you see faster i/o write speed than ext3? I'm considering upgrading my ext3 to ext4, while I know how to do that I'm not sure if I would run into any issues after upgrading or I would be better off reformating the drive with ext4 and reinstalling the OS after that.

Forgot to mention the current server runs mdadm raid10, so I'd probably convert just /dev/md2 which is main partition. Need to test that out on a test server first though.
Considering the.. difficulty... of upgrading ext3 to ext4, I would just leave existing ext3 installations alone, and make all new installations on ext4. Attrition over time will handle the ext3 installations.
The process itself is pretty simple actually, just not sure on mdadm. I guess I will just go ahead and see of the server successfully boots up after this.

Ext4 blows ext3.
Apparently its possible to convert from ext3 to ext4 on the fly, but newer files will only change.

It has to be done in a single user mode
Last time, I'm performing benchmarh to CentOS and Debian, and there's some difference between the OS because of the file extension type.
Maybe uncle @Prometeus could answer it
ext4 is better~
That is already a well known fact.
1) Build new node with ext4.
2) Migrate clients from old node to new node.
3) Rebuild old node with ext4.
4) Rename old node as new node and new node as old node if you don't want to migrate back.
