IPv6 Only Servers?
Hello all!
Everyone knows that IPv4 is running out, and probably it's going to be around forever! Or at least, I am expecting it to outlive most of us.
Adoption of IPv6 has been slow, to say the least, and since they are not compatible, most people are looking for servers with at least 1 IPv4 address.
But what if you didn't need an IPv4 address? Services like CloudFlare is IPv6 ready, and if you have a website hosted on an IPv6 only server, you can use services like CloudFlare to get your website visible to all the IPv4 users.
Not to mention, many back-end servers can happily do work and communicate with each other on IPv6, and since they aren't customer facing, giving them IPv4 seems almost wasteful.
So is anyone doing IPv6 only VPS and Dedicated Servers? Or indeed IPv6 only webhosting? If not, is it about time someone tried?
It also occurred to me that the vast majority of hacking and ddos attacks are done over the IPv4 internet. For the time being, hiding behind IPv6 may in itself be a form of DDOS protection, at least for the next few years. Maybe it's a good thing?
Any thoughts?

at this point you will need IPV4 as it is your primary network address whereas IPv6 secondary, unless you reconfigure it yourself.
People (us included) have been doing this for years. For VPS though, i haven't heard of dedicated servers without ipv4 yet.
What do you mean?
Currently price difference for not including IPv4 would ne negligible on dedicated servers (Considering an IP costs around 10EUR one time on the market and can be split down to around 80c/month with a 12 month ROI). It makes some sense for ultra cheap VPS though.
Webhosting is shared IPv4 mainly anyway, so not an issue.
For IPv6-only VPS, see http://littlehappycloud.net/ and http://lowendspirit.com/
Where exactly is this? Massive IP shortage in my neck of the woods.
You can buy a /24 in RIPE region at around 13EUR/IP and a /24 in ARIN region at around 12$ - APNIC is a bit more expensive at around 15EUR.
At /16+ pricing is ~10EUR/12$ in all regions except Afrinic which is cheaper.
Well, one of my blog were previously hosted only in an IPv6 only vds from VDS6.net. I just need to configure everything by connecting to the vps using IPv6 from my other vps with IPv6 enabled.
After that, I configure the Nginx to work with IPv6, and use Cloudflare. But since VDS6 sometimes having problem with their IPv6 network, I just cancel it and move to another provider.
Don't forget one of the pioneers (if not the pioneers), http://vds6.net/nl6/
I would like an IPv6 only VPS with its own /64. And by that I do not mean the whole /64 assigned to it, just that no one else uses any IPs from the same /64.
And then as many new IPs from new /64s as I want to for free.
Someone do that pls. Thx.
LHC does that in NL: http://littlehappycloud.net/
@4n0nx PM me with your HW requirements and I'm more than happy to arrange that for you .
Not that I'd recommend his services, but Hassan's service
lets you create unlimited VPSs each with a dedicated /112. Maybe he can set up something with a /64 per VPS? @Hassan
No problem. What else will we do with the /32 we have... Should be 4,294,967,296 /64s in a /32. Doubt we will ever run out.
In case anybody's still looking, we do have IPv6 only VPS on https://ipv6onlyhosting.com/ and do give out /64 and IPv6 VPN for free.
You also have a discussion thread on here: https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/151478/ipv6onlyhosting-2-5-chf-ipv6-only-1gb-kvm-in-switzerland/p1
And you necroed a four year dead thread.
Dammit.
Please refrain from necro’ing four year old threads with your crappy offers.
