The "Succinctly" series of books. The publisher (SyncFusion) gives them away free. 70-odd books on a variety of tech subjects. I skimmed through a few and they vary a bit in quality, but most are a reasonable introduction to the subjects covered. And, well, they're free.
Does require use of a disposable email address free registration.

No idea. There is an ad for their company and its products at the start of a couple I looked for, but seems like an expensive way to get your name out there. Then again, I suppose lots of people will see them.
