Disk IO in proxmox

Hi,

I am new to proxmox and I have a question regarding disk IO performance between host node and virtual machines.

Host: ~70MB/s
KVM 55MB/s
OpenVZ 51MB/s

Is this normal? I am using proxmox 2.1. For KVM I use virtio library.

    Yup, disk IO performance in Proxmox was always terrible for us. Once we switched from Proxmox to just a base CentOS install (same exact hardware, latest OpenVZ kernel, and without LVMs) our write speeds jumped from 50-60MB/s to over 130MB/s (both host and OpenVZ VPSs).

    @KuJoe any good how-to for the CentOS install? maybe i'll try and shift from Proxmox

    I just followed this: http://wiki.openvz.org/Quick_installation

    It's only good for OpenVZ though and doesn't offer KVM like Proxmox does. I find OpenVZ suits my needs much better than KVM though for our internal servers.

    i'm also playing with OpenVZ currently.. :)
    After quick installation, all management from commandline?
    and any panel for clients?

    Yup, CLI only. No clients on the server so I don't need a panel.
